The Boys and Girls Club Power Start Program
A FREE program for children experiencing challenges with food sustainability & getting to school on time.
Volunteers and staff of the Boys and Girls Club pick children up from their homes on school day mornings and safely drive them to school. Once at school, children are fed a nutritious breakfast and receive help with preparing for the school day. When school begins, children go to their classrooms ready to learn with a healthy snack for recess.
Did You Know:
During the Covid-19 lockdown, the program hand delivered 4824 healthy breakfasts to children at their homes. That works out to 164 eggs and/or pancakes, 246 pieces of fruit, & 82 smoothis/bagels/muffins EACH WEEK!
Pre-Covid, the program served 10,383 breakfasts & recess snacks to children accessing the program.
